Presentation

PhD candidate at EPHE since 2022, MEXT scholar at University of Tokyo since 2023.

My research focus on the history of Japanese Catholicism from Meiji era to the Second World War. Using the local catholic press, I study the integration of Catholic authors and intellectuals, either Japanese or missionaries, to public opinion in the country, and their positions on the political matters of the era in particular.

Research thematics

  • Religions and empire in modern Japan (19th-20th centuries)
  • Intellectual history of Japanese Christianity
