Seminar as part of the research program Citation and other scholarly matters of textual reuse
This panel brings together scholars at the forefront of digital humanities and Daoist studies to explore how computational methods are reshaping the study of Daoist texts, canons, and traditions. The papers showcase innovative tools ranging from LLM-assisted translation workflows and AI-based philological analysis of Shangqing scriptures, to digital investigations of the Duren jing and its commentarial tradition, as well as large-scale databases for mapping Daoist textual corpora. The discussion highlights both the promise of digital tools for close reading, translation, and comparison, and the methodological challenges they raise for interpretation and scholarly practice.
