Dissertation title : Drigung Kagyu Murals in Ladakh (13th-mid-15th c.) : Patrons and Painters

Research topics :

  • Political and religious history of the Ladakh region and its links to Tibet during the Later diffusion of Buddhism (phyi dar)
  • Scriptural tradition and iconography of the Drigung Kagyu (’bri gung bka’ brgyud) Tibetan Buddhist order
  • Modes and techniques of mural painting, connoisseurship applied to Tibetan art history
  • Archeometric analyses of murals and chronological modelling
  • Tibetan paleography, inscriptions and colophons

Scientific activities :

  • 2010-2016 : annual fieldworks of about two months (photographic survey of monuments, inscriptions, and manuscrits, interviews) in India (Kinnaur, Spiti, Ladakh, and Zanskar) and China (Central Tibet and Sichuan)
