Dissertation’s title : Cultural Exchanges between the Tang Dynasty and the Tibetan Empire : a Study of the Chinese Influences on the Tibetan Conception of Kingship be-tween the VII and IX Centuries

Research topics :

  • History of the Tibetan Empire : political history, origins of the Tibetan Empire, genealogy of the Spu-rgyal dynasty, foreign relations and diplomacy, Chinese influences.
  • Tibetan and Chinese Dunhuang manuscripts : codicological and paleographical analysis, transliteration and translation.
  • Tang Dynasty and its foreign relations : diplomacy, matrimonial alliances, peace treaties.
  • Mention of Tibet, of Tibetan Empire and of Tibetan people in textual sources as : Song period encyclopaedias (Cefu yuangui 冊府元龜, Taiping yulan 太平御覽), official histories (Sui, Tang, Cinq Dynasties, Song) and other official documents (Tang huiyao 唐會要, Tongdian 通典, Wudai huiyao 五代會要, Zizhi tongjian 資治通鑒).
  • Chinese and Tibetan epigraphy : funerary inscriptions, steles and official treaties.

Scientific activities :
- 2010-2016 Several fieldworks and research stays (transcription, photographic coverage of archaeological sites and Chinese and Tibetan epigraphic documents) or linguistic stay (Chinese and Tibetan) in China (Beijing, Shanxi, Henan, Yunnan, Sichuan, Qinghai, Gansu), in Tibetan regions (Amdo, Khams, Central Tibet), in Mongolia and in India.
- 2015-2016 Associate researcher of Bibliothèque nationale de France, department of oriental manuscripts. Project : "Marcelle Lalou et l’arrivée des manuscrits tibétains de Dunhuang à la Bibliothèque nationale de France : genèse d’une collection orientale au Département des manuscrits".
- 17th-19yh July 2014 Co-organiser with Dr. Daniel Hirshberg of the conference : “Kingship+Narrative+Ritual ÷ Tibet+Surrounding Cultural Areas”, hosted by the group “Kingship and Religion in Tibet”, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, München.
- 2nd-12th July 2013 Participation at CERES Summer School at Bochum University. Summer school topic : "Eurasian Religions in Contact. From Antiquity to Modernity".
